The challenge
SMG Construction had grown across multiple brands and domains, and its users, email, business data and devices had grown up alongside that expansion — spread across separate, disconnected environments. Three business domains needed to be brought under one roof, email and data sitting in Google Workspace needed to move across without disrupting the business, an acquired domain needed to be folded into the primary identity strategy, and a set of standalone computers had no consistent cloud identity or central device management at all.
The solution
909 IT Solutions designed and delivered a Microsoft 365 consolidation and security uplift centred on the business’s primary domain. All three domains, including the newly acquired one, were brought into a single managed Microsoft 365 tenant. Email and business data were migrated across from Google Workspace, and previously standalone Windows devices were joined to Microsoft Entra ID, giving the business a consistent cloud identity and sign-in model for the first time.
With that foundation in place, devices, users, configuration and security controls were brought under one common management approach using the Microsoft cloud stack, Exchange Online, Entra ID, Intune, SharePoint and OneDrive among them, and email and endpoint security controls were implemented to strengthen protection against malicious messages and account-based threats.
The result
SMG Construction moved from a fragmented mix of domains, Google Workspace data and standalone devices to one consolidated Microsoft 365 operating model. Three domains, their users and their devices can now be managed through a single environment, onboarding is more consistent, and the business has a scalable Microsoft cloud foundation it can extend to future users, devices and acquisitions.
